On Groundhog’s Day 2025, join me atop Gobbler’s Knob to see the ONE and ONLY…The groundhog ABOVE ALL groundhogs… The WORLD FAMOUS… Punxsutawney Phil!
On Sunday, February 2nd, I will be hosting the first ever Groundhog’s Day Element Meet in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
The corny nature of Groundhog’s Day is like no other and it should be on everyone’s bucket list!
Although further details of the event are yet to come… here are some definites:
◦ Group car camping Saturday night will be at the Punxsutawney Walmart. This allows us to have plenty of space, access to bathrooms, supplies, etc. It is open 24 hours.
◦ There’s no pressure to arrive to Walmart at a certain time! Myself and others will be exploring downtown during the day. I will be heading to the Walmart at 8 PM. You are welcome to show up after though I would recommend coming between 8PM-10PM in case parking spots fill up.
◦ We will take the shuttle bus to Gobbler’s Knob around 3:30 AM. This bus is conveniently located on the side of the Walmart building and costs $5. It is a 5 minute ride. (Gates at the Knob open at 3AM so it is crucial to get there at a good time for a good spot.)
Once we get to the Knob, I will be getting AS CLOSE to the stage as possible THE SECOND the bus drops us off.
You’re more than welcome to explore various food vendors, merchandise booths, bonfires, etc, though you will most likely get split from the group.
The night is filled with fun entertainment! There will be multiple bands and acts until sunrise at 7:30.
We will depart soon after Phil gives us the news, and walk 2 miles back to the Walmart. (The bus line takes an hour, it’s much better to walk!)
Once we get back, the meet is over. Some of us will go to breakfast and you are more than welcome to join.
Remember!!!!!!!!
◦ DRESS WARM!!! You will be standing in the cold for 5 hours. If you do not dress warm you will suffer!
◦ Eat before we take the bus. Once you are in the crowd, you will not be able to get in and out easily. You are able to bring food and drinks with you to the event.
◦ Other than the $5 bus ticket, this event is FREE! You cannot bring pets to this event.
◦ There is no pressure to stay with the group at the Knob! If you want to do your own thing that is perfectly okay! My goal for this meet is to have a fun time with familiar faces.
